VEGAN MAKEUP STARTER KIT

Vegan makeup is not always the easiest thing to come across. But once you know where to look it can become much easier to build a full makeup collection from vegan products. I think it took me around a year to build my collection and it definitely won't be something you'll do over night.

Some people choose to use products from 100% vegan brands, and while this is probably the most reliable way to do it, it definitely isn't the cheapest. A lot of vegan makeup is very expensive, much more than I have ever been willing to pay for makeup. So as a result, I have spent a lot of time doing research into drugstore brands to find cheaper alternatives.

There are a decent amount of cruelty free drugstore brands that you can take as a starting point. You may have to use your own judgement a little with what you deem as 'cruelty free'. For me, cruelty free would rule out any brands that sell in countries where testing is mandatory (even though they might be cruelty free in your own country) and any brands that use third party testing for individual ingredients.

Once you find some cruelty free brands that you like you can often find information about which products are vegan on the brands website. If you can't find any information online, the next step would be to contact the company, email is normally the easiest way to do this. I've normally found that brands are very happy to send a list of vegan products for you to look through. If you don't find any information, I would personally just choose to avoid that brand.
The only problem with buying from brands that aren't 100% vegan, is that they can change the ingredients at any time. I haven't experienced the negative side of this yet, but I do regularly check that my most used products are still vegan.

If you are looking for some recommendations of products to try, I have listed all my favourites down below. If you want a little bit of extra information on each product, I go through each one individually in the video. I have also included my full face makeup tutorial so that you can see the products in action.
